Acid Rain Questions

1.) List a few of the gases which lead to acid rain.
- Sulfur dioxide
-Nitrogen oxides

2.) What is the source of much of the acid rain producing gases in Pennsylvania?
-30 percent of nitrogen oxides come from power production, another 30 percent come from automobiles. The agricultural sector contributes 25-30 percent.  It is very hard to control and regulate nitrogen oxides.

3.) Briefly explain how acid rain forms.
-Acid rain forms when sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides in the atmosphere combine with water to form sulfuric acid and nitric acid. These acids mixed with rainwater is what we call acid rain.

Tornado Hits Missouri City

A tornado roared into the city of Joplin, Mo around 6 p.m. Joplin was recorded to have been right in the path of the tornado's path. The county coroner has reported at least 30 deaths and 11 bodies that have just been recovered from rubble. Many schools, apartment buildings, stores, and fire stations in the area have severely been destroyed. On scene was not pretty, firefighters were struggling to pull themselves out of debris and then without care would go help fellow fighters to get out. Joplin is hands down the hardest hit by the resent tornado in the Midwest. With such damage power lines are down, leaving it impossible to make any communication with them.

If the damage is as bad as they say it is, which I don;t doubt, I think we should have immediate help sent down.Whenever there is a tornado or any sort of storm that has caused such damage we should start to do everything we can for them. Since we can't make communication with them that should be the first priority on our minds.

Answer to question

There are reasons why amounts of rain effect whether soil is grassland soil or forest soil. Forest soils get so much rain that it helps support the heavy tree growth and keep the trees living and healthy. But when there is grassland that means that there is rain just not enough to up hold trees, because they do absorb large amounts of it. So when you see a area where there is a extensive amounts of rain fall you can almost bet that it is a forest soil and not a grassland soil. The names explain themselves because it rains enough to keep the grass healthy and nourished. Forest soils explains in the name that there are trees there so it must rain enough to keep them living.
